Huh, I’ve never seen a huge duct like that after the radiator fan. Is that to increase airflow by keeping it as laminar as possibly by pushing all the air out of the hood immediately?

It’s more cooling than aero. Rotaries run hot (at least unevenly) so you need to get as much air through that radiator and avoid dumping it on the engine. Particularly with intense use going <80
